Mary Martel’s Pound Cake
One day I asked my mother how she made pound cake, and I jotted the recipe down as follows:
    4 eggs
    cup of sugar
    stick of butter
Cream the above.
    2 cups of flour (non rising) one cup at a time
    3 heaping teaspoons of baking powder
Mix until creamy.
Add about 2 tablespoons of milk (more if necessary to make batter consistency)
    1 teaspoon of vanilla if you have it
Whip it good.
Grease pan well with butter.
Pour batter in pan.
[Bake in] 350 degree preheated oven for 1 hour
Test for doneness.
When cool turn out of pan.
Put icing on top, or jelly, cherry juice, or leave plain.
