LEBEAU Most basketball teams wish they could regroup as well as North Central. The Hurricanes should be reeling after the lost of three starters.But the regrouping Hurricanes are in control of the District 5-lA race after a 70-61 win over Mamou Tuesday. The victory lifts Mamou to 3-0 in district games, 8-13 overall.The Green Demons fall to 1-1 in league contests, 10-10 overall. |
NC girls 51, MHS 39
Despite being outscored 16-1 in the second quarter, North Central rallied in the second half to claim a 51-39 victory over Mamou Tuesday in District 5-lA. The victory lifts the Lady Hurricanes to 3-0 in district games, 7-15 overall. North Central trailed 26-21 at halftime, but outscored the Lady Green Demons 30-13 in the second half. Tiffany Taylor fueled the Hurricanes with 13 points. Apphia Doucet followed with 12. Ramona Lazard was the top Maimou scorer with 13 points. Chasity Mouiller totaled 12. North Central plays at Basile Friday. Mamou entertains Elton. |

We hit a little spurt where our defense was aggressive and we were able to create a couple of turnovers, said coach Jack. We knocked a couple of shots down and that enabled us to get back in the game. But Tezeno took over and he was virtually unstoppable. Scott Thomas led the Mamou scorer with 20 points. Serie finished with 13. The Green Demons play host to Elton Friday for a district game. North Central travels to Basile. Coach Fontenot is pleased to be in first place, but added many tough, district games are still on the schedule. We still have a road trip at Mamou and one at Elton. For us, thats going to be two, big ball games. It will be the three of us in the race. |
