Hello Chris,

Attached is a document from the "Family Genealogy Research Page" from my web site which you probably overlooked. It shows that my grandmother's parents were Felicien and Azelie Simien.

I remember my mother talking about her Uncle Lorange who used to dress up in fine clothes and drive a fine buggy whenever he would go to Opelousas for entertainment.  She would remember him with a laughter as though he were something else - maybe a "player" of his time.

I asked my mother if Lorange was his real name or if it was just a nickname. That was all she knew his as. I was really surprised when I found it to be his real name on ancestry.com

She had an Uncle named "T- Frere" (Sidney Simien) who had a son named Manuel. I remember we went to visit them when there was a fair at the church which was across the tracks just before you got to Lawtell.

When I taught at Lawtell High School in 1981, I had a student named Manuel Simien whom I believe was Manuel's son.

T-Frere's house was down the road on the left hand side after you crossed the tracks and drove past the church.

Grandma also had a relative named Sis (pronounced seese like geese). One time when she visited my grandmother Eva ("La Fille") her husband took us for a ride in his buggy through town.

A few years a ago I met one of Sydney Simien's sons at Citgo gas  station. We talked a bit and he told me where he lived and that we were related, but I can't remember where.

I have some other documents from ancestry.com which I will locate on my computer and send to you.

Also, you can visit my cousin Joan Nacoste's ancestry.com site - Hebert Family Tree. She has done extensive research into the Simien branch of her family because her grandmother was Lydia (Simien) St. Andrew (St. Andre).

Hello, Paul
It was great to hear from you.  I'm glad you found my site useful.  I've really enjoyed yours as well.  I've been trying to find how our families are connected.  I've seen your information on Lydia and Eva Simien, but I'm not sure who they may be related to on my side of the family.  Is there any Simien from Saint Landry Parish that you can trace your family too?

By the way, I'm not editing the Tribalpages site much anymore.  I've been concentrating more on the Ancestry.com site.  I've sent you an invitation to that site in a separate email.
